❤️ From Dream to Design

Cori Tailor is the one-woman creative studio of Oana Corina Rădulescu — a self-taught designer who creates made-to-measure dresses and skirts that celebrate individuality, color, and vintage-inspired style.

Though she started her career in structural engineering, Corina never let go of her childhood dream to design clothing. In a world of fast fashion, she felt the pull to create something different: thoughtful, playful, custom-made pieces that could truly feel like you.

Cori Tailor is not a fashion house — it’s a corner of our living room in Iași, Romania, where every pattern is drafted, every fabric cut, and every seam sewn by Corina herself. She’s a one-woman workshop, handling everything from sketches and sampling to final stitching.I’m her husband — helping behind the scenes with technical and business support — but every garment is 100% her creative vision.What started as doodles, then sketches, then a sewing machine gifted during our student days, became a daily practice and eventually a calling. After years in the engineering world (and a pandemic-fueled career shift), Corina decided it was time to turn her passion into something tangible — and wearable.

🌱 Where We're From

Corina grew up in Neagra, Piatra Neamț, in a traditional Romanian family where “fashion designer” wasn’t on the list of acceptable career paths. Still, she held onto the dream — sketching outfits, watching fashion shows, and imagining a life where clothing could be a form of storytelling.

Today, she works from our apartment in Iași. It’s not a studio, not yet. Just a sewing machine, a few spools of thread, and a head full of ideas.

I’ve always had the feeling that I was meant to do this — to create clothing, to work in fashion. As a child, I made outfits for dolls like many little girls do… but I also designed entire collections, gave them themes, and redressed Disney princesses with my own ideas. I loved it. And I especially loved going with my mother to the local tailor — the fabrics, the measuring tape, the tools… it all felt like magic to me.

In high school, I started drawing clothes again between studying math and biology. I followed big designer collections obsessively — especially Elie Saab at the time. These days, I feel more drawn to the elegance of Dior’s New Look. I also really admire Laura Galic, one of Romania’s own. If I ever work for someone else in fashion, it would be her.

But when I told my parents I wanted to pursue design professionally, they weren’t supportive. They had worked hard their whole lives, and wanted me to choose a “safe” and “serious” career. I didn’t have the courage to go against them — so I chose civil engineering. Something close to architecture, something logical. And for years, that’s what I did.

But I never stopped wanting more.

In my first year of university, I met my now-husband. He bought me my first sewing machine. He saw that spark in me. I used it once in a while, but life always pulled me in another direction. After graduation, I worked in technical roles, including for a Canadian company designing timber structures. I felt lucky, but unfulfilled.

So I took a chance. I left my job. I enrolled in what seemed like a promising private fashion school. I wanted to learn everything I’d missed. Unfortunately, that school turned out to be a mess — disorganized, disappointing, and ultimately dishonest. We lost time, energy, and money. I almost gave up.

But something kept pulling me back. And this time, I didn’t wait for anyone else to teach me. I started learning on my own. I studied, I practiced, I made mistakes, and I kept going.

Now, I work from a small corner of our apartment in Iași. I design, draft, cut, and sew everything myself. My husband supports me with the business, the website, the structure behind the dream. He’s the reason I’ve come this far — and the one who reminds me that it’s never too late to start.

I don’t regret the engineering years — they led me to him. And strangely enough, pattern making is a lot like engineering. Just softer, more intuitive, but no less complex.

I do sometimes wish I’d started younger. I’m 31 now, and just beginning this new chapter while others around me are years into theirs. But when I’m designing, drafting, sewing — I’m happy. For the first time, I really understand what it means to love your work.

I hope this path lasts. I hope I can grow this into something that sustains us. I’d do it even if it never made money, but we have to live — so here I am, sharing my work with you, hoping someone out there will connect with what I make.
